Why we believe in stronger together

Why I believe in the @silvoharvest_by_farleighfarms and @fruittreecottage.com.au partnership
The Sunshine Coast is a beautiful part of the world. Because of its beauty and welcoming community it is a desirable location for people to live and holiday.
@silvoharvest_by_farleighfarms have chosen to continue their multi-generational farming legacy on the Sunshine Coast by building something that gives back to the wider community.
The vision of our partnership is for a Pick-Your-Own farm plus more - an agritourism destination for locals and tourists alike. Not in a location requiring lengthy travel to reach but rather quickly accessible from most areas on the Sunshine Coast.
A central location that can be enjoyed by families, educational institutions, tourists and those interested in learning more in a hands-on working farm environment. Maintaining productive green spaces and encouraging the next generation to connect with the agricultural history of the region is of increasing and lasting value.
We will have a relaxed community hub for workshops on topics like beekeeping, growing fruit trees in the home garden, regenerative farming, animal husbandry, soil health and building biodiversity.
The State Government has recognised the need for agritourism projects just like this and has requested that Councils prioritise support for their development.
We want to work with Council and State Government - and other community groups - to bring this vision to the Sunshine Coast.
We would welcome our followers and readers support by sharing this post to individuals and groups who share similar values, so that they too, can join our journey.
Centrally located farmland is becoming a rare commodity and yet adds incalculable benefits for the entire community including:
- hands on education for the next generation
- mental health and wellbeing
- supporting biodiversity in our region
- maintaining green spaces for insect life, bird life and wild life
- wider community engagement through workshops
- economic benefits as an agritourism destination
If we don’t act now, to preserve these farms and this knowledge, we risk our landscape changing beyond recognition into a concrete jungle. With viable, healthy, fertile farmland disappearing forever.
