Ben Hur is a very special variety of Pomegranate that produces fruit that can weigh between 1-1.5kg. The fruit is sweet and juicy and a deep bright red. It is an increasingly popular variety with home gardeners. 

The trees are pot-friendly and deciduous or semi-deciduous (depending on variety) and climate. Once established they are an attractive, bushy and hardy tree with beautiful red flowers.

The fruit are very versatile and can be juiced, you can sprinkle seeds in salads, over desserts or over BBQ meat dishes, - or eat them fresh from the tree.

We may stock our fruit trees in a variety of options. In general, the advanced and extra-advanced trees are taller and more mature than the standard trees and will likely start fruiting sooner. If you have any questions about which is the best option for you, please contact us to discuss.

Most dwarf fruit trees are pot-friendly and can comfortably be kept to a size that suits smaller spaces like courtyards, balconies and verandas and planted out into smaller spaces.

Is it suitable for growing in pots?

Absolutely! Pomegrates grow well in a large pot and can be kept pruned to 2 metres.

How much water does it require?

Pomegranates will require regular watering whilst they are becoming established. When mature they are well-known for having fairly low water requirements. 

When will it start fruiting?

Fruiting will start in around 2-3 years after planting.
