The Red Centre Lime - also known as the Australian Blood Lime - is a rare and unusual variety developed by the CSIRO. It is a hybrid of the native Australian Finger Lime and an acidic mandarin or Rangpur Lime.
The fruit are very attractive with a beautiful oval egg shape, and a glossy slightly dimpled jewel like red skin. Inside the flesh is red and pink tinged and has the lovely juice filled pearls that the Finger Lime is known for though more tear drop shaped rather than round.
Delicious when juiced, in salads, with fish and shellfish, in cakes and preserves or eaten whole - skin and all! - straight from the tree.
Pot-friendly with branches that have a lovely weeping effect.
