A sought after dwarf avocado variety that produces a large crop of rich, tasty fruit. In addition, it can be successfully grown in a large pot!

When grown in a pot, its maximum height is likely to be around 2.5 metres, and when planted in the ground, it may reach 4 metres high.

It has a gorgeous weeping appearance, and several Wurtz avocado trees planted in a row make a lovely, natural screen or separation between spaces whilst also being a productive addition to your garden.

Tree Options / Variations

We may stock our fruit trees in a variety of options. In general, the advanced and extra-advanced trees are taller and more mature than the standard trees and will likely start fruiting sooner. If you have any questions about which is the best option for you, please contact us to discuss.

Most dwarf fruit trees are pot-friendly and can comfortably be kept to a size that suits smaller spaces like courtyards, balconies and verandas and planted out into smaller spaces.

  • Plant in full sun with shelter from strong winds.
  • Fertilize regularly.

Is it suitable for growing in pots?

Absolutely! Wurtz avocado trees grow beautifully in a large pot (75-100 Litres minimum) and will produce a good crop.

How much water does it require?

Avocados require regular deep watering but must have well drained soil i.e. no clay.

When will it start fruiting?

These are grafted avocados and fruiting will begin 2-3 years after they are planted into the ground.

Did You Know

Avocado trees can produce fruit with just one tree? They are essentially bisexual with both male and female flowers on the same tree, so with even just one tree planted it will give you fruit. You may have heard about Type A and Type B avocados. This refers to the times when the male and female flowers open and you can read more about the Avocado Pollination Types. There is no doubt however, that you will get more fruit if you have more than one avocado tree of the same Type - and more again if you have both an A Type and a B Type.
